Zoledronic Acid
Overview
A bisphosphonate, which affects bone metabolism. It is adsorbed onto hydroxyapetite cryastals in bone , slowing both their rate of growth and dissolution, and therefore reducing the rate of bone turnover. It reduces bone damage in advanced malignancies involving bone (with calcium and vitamin D supplement), it is also given in hypercalcemia of malignancy.
