Pentoxifylline

Overview

Pentoxifylline is a vasodilator, used in the treatment of peripheral vascular disease like intermittant claudication, Raynaud's syndrome. It may be useful in lowering blood sugar level, also reduces blood presure. Caution may be needed if given with antihypertensive or insulin as it may increase their effects

Details: Pentoxifylline, oral antidiabetic products, pramlintide, ACE inhibitors, fibrates, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, salicylates, and somatostatin analogs, may increase the blood glucose-lowering effect of insulins and therefore increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
