Eptifibatide

Overview

Eptifibatide is an antiplatelet drug that inhibits glycoprotein II b/ III a. Eptifibatide is used intravenously in the management of unstable angina and in patients undergoing angioplastic coronary interventions. In the latter case, the events of myocardial infarction or death have been reduced to 20%.

Eptifibatide's dosage details are as follows:

Adult Dosage

180 mcg/kg180 (180)As recommended.IVThis loading dose of is given over 1 to 2 minutes immediately after diagnosis, followed by continuous i.v.-infusion of 2µg/kg and minute until either hospital discharge or initiation of coronary artery bypass grafting, or for up to 72 hours. At least 4 hours before discharge all local or systemic bleedings should have been controlled and terminated.
