Pharmacokinetics

Oral absorption of Glipizide is found to be 100% . Volume of distribution is found to be 0.14 l/kg and plasma protien binding is >98%. and metabolism is reported complete by Liver. Renal Excretion accounts for >80% and plasma half life is 2.4 hr.

Contraindications

Glipizide is contraindicated in conditions like Thyroid disease, Impaired hepatic function, Iddm, Impaired renal function.

Adult Dosage

2.5 to 5 mg3.8 (3.75)24 hourlyPO30 min before breakfast. Max dose 40 mg. Dose >15 mg given in 2 divided doses.
