Overview
Piretanide is a loop diuretic with actions, uses and adverse effects similar to those of frusemide. Piretanide is used in the management of mild to moderate hypertension associated with edema.

Pharmacokinetics
Oral absorption of Piretanide is found to be 86% ±6. Volume of distribution is found to be 12 - 17 litre and plasma protien binding is 94 %. Renal Excretion accounts for 45 % unchanged and plasma half life is 1 - 1.5 hr.
