The alternate, deciduous, widely spaced, thick, and large leaves are broadly heart-shaped or ovate, pointed at the apex, oblique at the base, measure up to 20 cm in length and 15 cm in width, and coarsely toothed, with a light, whitish blush on the underside. Small (10 to 19 mm across), bright orange-yellow flowers are borne in dense cymes in the leaf axils in late spring.
