Herb's Description
Mallotus philippinensis (Lam) Muell.. A small much branched, evergreen tree with short and often buttressed bolt Bark thin, grey, somewhat rough leaves variable, broadly ovate to oblong < ovate-lanceolate, glabrous above, pubescent with numerous red glands beneath Flowers in spikes, dioecious, small; capsules, 3-lobed, loculicidally 3-valve 0.75-1.25 cm diam. Densely covered with reddish black, smooth minute Stella hairs and fine grains of a red resinous substance soluble in alcohol. See< 4 mm diameter, sub-globose, black.
